Central Park, Summer 1961

Check out these photos from Central Park in the summer of 1961. It looks so idyllic, and do you notice how   minimal the number of people in each shot? I can't imagine New York City  or Central Park looking like that these days with its population of over 8 million.

oh hello Friday

This weekend . . . we’re finally watching this film, seeing a friend perform in a Pride and Prejudice play in Annapolis, and oh, hosting stop #2 of a brunch stroll on Saturday. Two of our neighboring friends had the brilliant idea to host a brunch stroll, similar to a progressive dinner, in our three homes. Boy and I are handling the savory dishes so I’m imaging Boozy Baked French Toast and Bloody Marys.’ Have a good one and until Monday . . . some fun links.

Tunes: Get Lucky

Boy has this on repeat all the time. It's a catchy little one, and I'm so glad Daft Punk is back on the scene.

Wedding: The Ceremony

Let's pick up the wedding photos, shall we? My, my it's been a while, and I believe that I last left it at "The Gents." Dum, da, dum . . . the ceremony photos. I really loved how the evening turned out. The weather was gorgeous, the lighting of the candles and fire were just perfect, and the piping hot drinks welcoming the guests set just the right mood. As I stepped out to walk to Philip, it was an intimate setting of close friends and family to witness our moment. Just what we had hoped for . . .

My lovely in-laws. Gosh, I really am a lucky lady; they are wonderful and have quickly grown to become some of my favorite people.

Office Habits

3. The LEGO Group GÇô Billund, Denmark

I'm constantly searching for ways to improve my days at work. Sitting at a desk all day and staring at a screen can truly become monotonous.  It’s funny how so much of our days consist of screens- typing emails, writing blogs, reading the news, connecting with friends, and checking recipes while cooking.

oh hello Friday

(source unknown)

Plans this weekend? Boy and I are heading to my sister’s place in North Carolina. I cannot wait to squeeze my nephews. We are armed and ready for them with our booty of Legos, books, and puzzles. Of course,  bringing my boat shoes ↑ , and I’m really hoping we can make it to the beach one day; the ocean water is just beckoning.

Have a good one, enjoy the sunshine, and check out these fun links . . .

Tunes: The Boxer

It doesn't quite measure up to the Simon Garfunkel version, but that banjo sure does sound so sweet. Happy Friday darlings!

Audrey Hepburn in Rome

Vanity Fair is sharing a photo colletion of Audrey Hepburn during her times in Rome. She's just absolutely stunning, and I wish flights still carried that much style. Check out that white mod sailor hat!

Boston

Simpy praying for those in Boston today.

Would you . . .

. . . wear a baseball cap? I'm not talking about donning the one I wear to the gym to tame my tangled mane. This trend is popping up everywhere, though I'm decidedly against the (p)leather, black cap. Here are some of my favorites . . .

oh hello Friday

Plans this weekend? I’m heading to Boston for a friend's wedding, and my besties and I have managed to leave the husbands/fiancees at home to turn it into a girls’ weekend. Girls’ weekends are so essential, no? Some links . . .

Tulle +

Perhaps it's the ballerina coming out in me, but I love tulle skirts. And, tulle chambray seems like the perfect combo, don't you think? Or, well any blouse really.

Oh it's the weekend, and I am so excited for a "sleeping in Saturday." How about you? It will be a lazy weekend with a few dinners planned here and there. Some links for your Friday . . .

April Resolution Experiment

(source unknown)

March is at an end, and April has arrived. I just wish spring would have received the memo as well. Who is tired of those cold winds?

Well, the smoothie resolution was fantastic and has since evolved into a habit. I love being intentional about my grocery shopping, finding new recipes, and  researching proteins to add. For April, I'm going to choose something that I've missed so much in the last few months. You see, I usually go in phases with book reading. I'll find 3-4 books that I love and absorb in a  month or so, and then I have my dry spells. Ever since reading Grace in December, I have yet to find a book that I just can't put down.

Cocktail of Choice

(the Fitzgeralds)

Our household is a liquor household, but I’m sure you figured that out here, here, and here. The beers are usually reserved for outdoor concerts, and the wine is saved for fancy dinners when a piece of red meat begs to be complimented. Boy and I have our individual beverages of choice, and we have our ‘steady and sure’ choice that neither one of us would decline if offered. I was delighted to read this article on authors’ favorite drinks as it has some haunting similarities to boy and me.

His choice: Straight Whisky: Dylan Thomas.

During quiet evenings at home, I'll find him sipping two fingers width of Bulleit whisky with a few ice cubes in low glass, and it’s so darn fetching of him.

Her choice: Martinis: Anne Sexton

I adore a high, olive (not dirty) martini with a cheesy pizza or a big ‘ole pasta bowl. The drink I always swore that I’d drink when I was 60 or so. I guess I’m starting early.

What Ali Wore

Have you seen the blog "What Ali Wore"? A cafe owner in Berlin started taking photos of him on his walk to  his tailoring job everyday,  and it's since led to the blog. The man has quite the style, and I adore his poses.

Currently coveting

These days . . . I'm really coveting interesting spaces, hardwood floors, and high ceilings. I absolutely adore our wee apartment, and I am ever so grateful for it, especially since we were almost homeless and unable to find an available space almost 5 days before the wedding (!). It's new and modern,  but I catch myself craving our next place to house all my eclectic tastes. Some spaces I'm coveting . . .
