Burgaw

We had a lovely time with our family. The Burgaw Blueberry Festival is quite an event with live music, a 5k, carnival rides, and a crazy amount of food and merch vendors. We stuffed our faces with everything blueberry! My brother Bub, Eli, and I found time at the beach, and boy and I slipped away in the afternoons (during naptime, of course) for coffee and antique rummaging.

Snapshots

Oh dear, August 20th was my last post. Shame on me. The last two weeks have been a haze of wedding planning, birthday celebrations, and a Many Hopes planning retreat in the City. So, some snapshots as of late  will have to do . . .

Movie Night

The outdoor movie night was a hit, or at least, I think it was! I didn’t let the dreary day of clouds and raindrops get me down. After surrendering to the fact it would not be a back lawn filming, I grabbed my toolbox and nailed the sheet screen right to the porch posts. A few strands of lights, candles, gin martinis and homemade kettle corn in these oh so cute popcorn buckets (mine were from Target) really made the evening. Some of our guests stayed until the wee hours of the morning so we featured Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark and Back to the Future, and guests mimicked the nostalgic lines of ‘Indy’ and ‘Marty McFly’ all evening.

Long Island Photos (2)

On Saturday morning, boy hit the links while I slept in and enjoyed copious amounts of coffee over conversation with his cousin. Fascinatingly enough, the 6am wake up on Saturday mornings does not seem to bother him if the golf course is his destination. After his return, we took the North Ferry to Shelter Island for lunch and the chance to put our toes in the sand. We dined at the Sunset Beach restaurant; very "shi shi", but an experience nonetheless. The evening closed with a friend's birthday celebration and midnight cocktails on the back deck; a lovely way to end the weekend. Patricia, thank you for a wonderful time!

Hello Neon!

(photo taken by the ever so lovely Ashley)

How was your weekend? Mine was filled with a friend's bridal shower,  late night burgers, shopping at La Petite Marmoset in Columbia Heights and a Dave Matthews concert, where I wore this little number. Let's just say that the fluorescent neon was a big hit! My beaming dress served as a landmark for those looking for their party on the lawn- it was quite hilarious.

Patchwork

(1) The Friday garden party turned terribly wrong with torrential downpour, but it turned out to be a lovely evening, sans photos (2) Boy surprised me with tickets to South Pacific at Wolf Trap on Saturday evening (3) For half the price, the lawn seats are really the way to go (4) Solo sangria on a Sunday afternoon- don't judge (5) Just some pie slinging (6) As boy put it in this moment "you are instragramming the h*ll out of the things
