The documentary, Girl Rising, looks amazing. It tells the story of 9 young women around the world who have faced extreme adversity and hardship because of their gender. The girls' stories are narrated by renowned actresses such as Meryl Streep, Kerry Washington, Priyanka Chopra, Selena Gomez, Anne Hathaway, and Alicia Keys.

We did it!
I volunteer with the group, Many Hopes, and we concluded our monthlong, annual fundraiser a few weeks ago. All the donations were just tallied, and we came in well over our goal (!!!). So, what does this mean exactly?

Snapshots
Oh dear, August 20th was my last post. Shame on me. The last two weeks have been a haze of wedding planning, birthday celebrations, and a Many Hopes planning retreat in the City. So, some snapshots as of late will have to do . . .

A Charmed Life
(photo of the girls, by my good friend at Firefly Imageworks)
As you may have noticed, I did not lead this blog with a “hey, this is
me” introduction, but rather a quiet song to ease my way into the blogosphere. Upon
starting it and encouraged by boy, I wanted to use this space as a creative
outlet, making it my own; no matter the readership. (This is a serious post so
we’re going to give Philip (boy) his rightful serious name). After reading
several posts, Philip urged me to write something beyond photography, design,
clothing and “pretty things.” Initially, I moaned and balked at him- “it’s my
blog, right? I will make it my own!” But, truly, I did appreciate his
encouragement. And him.
