To the lake, we go.

We are heading to the lake next week, and I couldn't be more excited! We are in need of some serious R&R.

We'll be in Boston, then Lake Ossipee for an entire week with boy's family. The days will be filled with sunbathing, reading, canoeing, swimming, some boat time, and delicious meals by the grill. I am also looking forward to . . .

On forgiveness

Oh to be back at the lake again, where my most pressing decision was red or white wine? What a week it has been, and I know the next five weeks will be just as demanding with  the approaching  two weddings, family visits, friend's complicated lives that beckon me to listen and encourage, Many Hopes retreat extravaganza, work projects and oh, trying to plan my own wedding, if possible.

To the Lake Photos (2)

Before heading to Lake Winnipesaukee, Philip and I spent some time in Boston. Between residing in Virginia and Washington D.C., I spent some time living in Boston, and I adored it. It was an achy two years of questioning my next career move and pointless romantic incidents, but the time was surely filled with fond memories and friendships.

To the Lake Photos (1)

Oh dear, I have been so quiet these last several days. I had hoped to blog some while at the lake, but the reading, the basking in the sun, the numerous familial meals and the lovely times of conversations kept me away from finding a computer screen. And I have to tell you, I really loved it. I sure did miss blogging, but the disconnect from this world of updates, statuses, feeds and tweets was nice and necessary for a moment.

Long Island Photos (2)

On Saturday morning, boy hit the links while I slept in and enjoyed copious amounts of coffee over conversation with his cousin. Fascinatingly enough, the 6am wake up on Saturday mornings does not seem to bother him if the golf course is his destination. After his return, we took the North Ferry to Shelter Island for lunch and the chance to put our toes in the sand. We dined at the Sunset Beach restaurant; very "shi shi", but an experience nonetheless. The evening closed with a friend's birthday celebration and midnight cocktails on the back deck; a lovely way to end the weekend. Patricia, thank you for a wonderful time!

Long Island Photos (1)

Long Island was a wonderful weekend getaway; have you ever been? Heading out on Thursday evening, we decided to break up the drive with a stop in New Jersey to see Philip’s sister and her husband. With an arrival time of 10pm, you really have no choice but to drink whisky cocktails at an Irish pub with an open mic trilling behind you. We had a great time; thanks Kathleen and Lane for letting us crash!

Highway to Love

We had a lovely weekend away; photos coming soon. But in the meantime, this magnet found by boy completely exemplifies my love for him. Road trips are such a true testament of a relationship's solidity. The collective 14 hour drive to and from Long Island was immersed in wrong turns, accusing shouts, misunderstandings, then followed  by murmured apologies and laughing at the ridiculousness. The moments in between were made of off-key singing, reading to one another, mutually needed coffee breaks and continuing to learn about and from each other.

More photos coming soon . . .
